When ordering groove parts, choose the appropriate sealing ring
1. When ordering groove parts, choose the appropriate sealing ring. Different media in pipelines require sealing rings made of different materials. Currently, there are eight types of sealing rings made of different materials available on the market to accommodate different media.
2. Pipeline groove (also known as rolling groove) is a key process for pipeline connection and an important link that determines the quality of groove component connection. The width and depth dimensions of the groove must meet the requirements. When rolling the groove, the end of the pipe should be flat and free of burrs. The end should be perpendicular to the axis of the pipe, so that the groove rolled out can be perpendicular to the center axis of the pipe. At the same time, it is necessary to ensure that the length from the groove to the pipe end is equal. If the ovality of the pipeline and the wall thickness of the welded galvanized pipe are uneven, they should be corrected as much as possible during groove rolling, otherwise the groove will produce uneven depth and cannot guarantee their tightness.
3. For groove connection of seamless steel pipes, products that have been galvanized by regular manufacturers should be selected. If the method of purchasing seamless steel pipes and then going out for galvanizing is adopted, the quality of galvanizing cannot be guaranteed due to the oxidation and corrosion caused by long-term storage of the steel pipes. The adhesion of the galvanized layer is poor, and the galvanized layer is prone to cracking or even falling off during groove rolling, which affects the sealing and service life. In order to achieve good sealing after pipeline installation, in addition to selecting high-performance groove components and ensuring that the sealing ring is not damaged, a layer of neutral lubricant needs to be applied to the flange and outer edge of the sealing ring during installation to ensure a tighter fit between the lip of the sealing ring and the pipeline sealing ring.
4. The use of rigid and flexible joints in groove components should be reasonable. Rigid joints are suitable for use at pipe ends that require rigid connections in low-pressure pipelines, such as sprinkler risers, long-distance straight pipelines, valves, equipment, etc. They are required to be used in situations where displacement, rotation, and torsion are not allowed in the pipeline to achieve good rigidity. Flexible joints are suitable for connecting medium and low pressure pipelines. After installation, they allow for appropriate shrinkage and deflection of the pipeline, compensating for the slight displacement of the pipeline. They are more suitable for pipeline installation in uneven environments; It can also absorb noise, vibration, and seismic stress, and is generally used in the inlet and outlet pipelines of water pumps in fire protection systems.
5. If the distance of the fire horizontal pipe is long and a hanger is used, it is recommended to use a flexible joint in the middle to prevent the pipe from flowing through. This ensures that the axial pipe movement is not large and does not affect the bending of the horizontal branch pipe connected to it.
6. When installing fire pipes in situations with a certain temperature difference, flexible joints and rigid joints can be used in combination with fixed brackets and anti sway brackets for the pipes. This way, the axial force generated by compression or temperature difference changes will not affect the bending of the transverse branch pipe.
